I hope everyone is enjoying summer with your families and friends.

There are certainly a lot of changes happening in the world of benefits these days & around the corner in 2014.  I am going to be discussing key topics on Health Care Reform impending changes and what an employer really needs to know. We are also excited about our latest offering- by launching  Short Term Medical Insurance. STM provides a valuable option for part-time, seasonal, Cobra, new employees in their waiting period, recent college graduates or people in transition.

Health Care Reform-Employers, Insurers and brokers seem to be broken into three areas when it comes to change regarding  Health Care Reform in Employee Benefits decisions. Early adopters, no adopters and a little of each. My estimate is two thirds of the market is reactive  vs. proactive right now. As an optimist that is alarming yet as a realist I understand the human component of change. The reality is that we are all going to have to get ahead of the curve on Employer Health care rather quickly.  There is a lot of information flowing in the media and we can help with facts vs. political rhetoric.  The attached video by the always witty Cokie Roberts ,courtesy of  the Kaiser Foundation, is one of the best piece’s I’ve seen since HCR came out. Enjoy..

Short Term Medical Insurance- A tremendous opportunity! With over Fifty Million Uninsured in the U.S, many are friends, family members and coworkers. Cobra is either too expensive, employees are in their waiting period or in today’s economy they don’t qualify for the health plan due too few hours. I recommend checking out our STM link that provides these folks an opportunity to get insurance very affordably,  plus Dental & RX coverage.

Next blog topic- 401k….Planning for Retirement in the Group setting yet with a “personal” portfolio bend..Easy as 1.2.3..Really…

Hi everyone, this is Steve Gadomski, founder & CEO of VantagePoint Benefits Advisors in the Chicago area.  We are launching our new site and we hope its user friendly and informative. We also want to make sure it’s fun to review vs. boring old insurance sites.  We will be adding audio & video among other lively pieces along the way. My blog is really an extension of what’s going through my mind these days with my “exciting” world of employee benefits, health care reform and other key areas that relates to the employer and employee marketplace.  Yes I actually enjoy this stuff…

Hottest topic these days are of course how health care reform law is going to impact employers and their employees. There is a lot of stuff out there from insurance companies, the news and “perceptions” by the public. There is a lot of misinformation that is forming employers and employees opinions. Not all good by the way. I’ll do my best to share the “real” world and what’s pertinent to employers and their employees with no bull and facts based. I’m seeing two ends of the spectrum on health care reform in terms of action by employers.  One third very proactive, another third in the waiting game and the other third with what I call their “heads in the sand.” I’m a strong believer in the let’s get ahead of the curve strategy.

VantagePoint is well versed on what you need to know and when especially September 23rd hits and the 2011 initiatives. It is now the law after all so we all have to follow the plan until the law is changed.

So welcome and I hope you enjoy the commentary on key topics and I welcome your comments, opinions and suggestions.
